Jayden Jones commits to Angelina College
Star forward and Ballers Nation/Tyler Legacy standout Jayden Jones announced Monday that he will be taking his talents to NJCAA Region XIV to play for Angelina College located in Lufkin. Jones as a part of Ballers Nation averaged 14 points per game tagged with over 4.5 rebounds a contest.
At Tyler Legacy, Jones earned multiple All-District accolades while averaging over 15 points, 4 rebounds and a steal for the Red Raiders. Legacy is also in the midst of a playoff push currently one game out of the top seed in 6A District 10. The same district where Jones is second in points per game. His father Scott Jones had high praise for Jayden. "He is very goal driven, head strong, and ambitious! Once he has his mind on something he wants to go after it," Jones said. "He has been this way since he was a kid. Very determined and will put in the work to get where he needs to be." Jones also reflected on Jayden's journey with Ballers Nation. "Since joining, Jayden has learned how to better himself on and off the court. [Ballers Nation] has taught my son lessons that he will be able to use in everyday life as an adult. His mother Tina echoed the same sentiment stating, "We consider Coach Crawford and the staff as family! They've been there for Jayden both in and outside of basketball." She even had a special quote for Jayden to keep: "Life is about choices and the one you make today reflects your future."
The 6'4 combo will be joining an Angelina Roadrunners team that has gone back-to-back seasons over .500 under third-year head coach J.J. Montgomery.
Jones's long-time coach and Ballers Nation CEO/Founder Brian Crawford looked back fondly on his progress both on and off the floor. "It's still a joy and a blessing to see a young man or lady earn an opportunity and be mentally and physically prepared through The Process to find the right college fit to continue their dreams," Crawford said. "God will continue to get all the glory as we head into year 22!"With this commitment, Jayden Jones becomes student-athlete number 227 to play college basketball as a Ballers Nation Alumnus. Jayden gave his thoughts on his journey through The Process, "BN has not only molded me into a better basketball player, but made me a better person off the court. Every coach though this process at BN has treated me with love and respect and I would like to thank them for being there for me every step of the way!"
